Star is our friend from Saving Deathrow Dogs. She is a six-year-old lab mix and on the larger size at about 149 pounds.

Star was adopted from a shelter as a puppy and returned six years later. The poor girl was itchy, had hair loss and horribly infected ears, and was urinating blood when she came to The Sanctuary by the Pet Connection. Her untreated chronic allergies were causing her major discomfort. She was in pain and so frightened that we couldn't touch her for eight weeks. Now that she's had proper medical care, good food, and a loving, supportive environment, Star is feeling sooooo much better! 

Star is a fantastic dog. Some might even call her . . . a Star! She is housebroken and not at all destructive. She's good on leash and very obedient. Star is also a fan of good movies, particularly when viewed with her human on the couch, perhaps with a belly rub! But Star does have another side -- she's a silly goofball, too!

Star likes most other dogs but would prefer that they not mess with her food and toys. (Gottta admit, we're with her on that one!) She's still a shy girl but does great with a slow introduction to new people. After what she's been through, who could blame her for wanting to carefully assess her new peeps? 

The Pet Connection will happily provide her foster and forever homes with behavioral support for Star, including proper introductions to strangers entering the home. Her medical needs aren't complicated -- treatment for her ears and skin and inexpensive daily medication.
