Meet Bear! He is a 10-month-old Rottweiler/German Shepherd currently weighing in at 82 pounds. He’s a clumsy, playful, energetic goofball most of the time (think Buddy the Elf in dog form). He loves people, dogs and cats. He is up-to-date on appropriate vaccines, dewormed, current on flea and heartworm prevention and neutered and microchipped.
Bear is happiest when he’s with his people, and a larger dog sister or brother he can wrestle with and chase in a large fenced yard. He gets exceptional grade cards at doggie daycare and, like a young child, he needs to be required to take a nap, too. Sometimes it’s hard to remember he’s a toddler because he’s so big! His kennel with a nice blankie is the perfect spot to decompress. Bear is a connoisseur of squeaky toys, fetching, puzzles and snacks. Mealtime will need to be hand fed to earn trust with his human and as he’s still a growing boy he needs some extras, too. Brunch and linner are always appreciated!
Bear is looking for someone who understands that at some point in his life he didn’t have much so sometimes he finds it hard to share food and other items he determines to be of high value. That could be his food bowl but it could also be an area rug or a dish towel he may or may not have stolen off the kitchen counter. He is currently learning to “drop” and doing well as he learns very quickly. Bear needs to join a forever home with adults experienced beyond basic dog behavior and body language that will continue his training long-term with consistency, routine and patience. He’d even love to be a jogging partner or have a job!
