This handsome pooch is Chance, our new friend with Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland. He’s about one or two years old and weighs around 40 pounds. He has beautiful short white fur with back spots and the best black and white markings on his cute little face.
Chance found himself in a kennel in southern Missouri where adoption options are hard to come by. Rescue groups descended on the kennel that Chance was in, taking all the other dogs. Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland couldn’t stand the thought of Chance being left behind, so they decided to give Chance a chance. Boy, are they glad they did!
Chance is housebroken and very smart. He has had a little bit of training and would be an amazing student for future learning opportunities. He is still young and full of energy. Chance enjoys walks, playing fetch with a ball, and cavorting with other dogs. He is a snuggler and loves to sit with you, or on your lap. He is also a kisser, so be ready for that! He is kennel trained and spends nights there. We aren’t sure how Chance would do around cats. Chance’s ideal home would not have kids as they make him uncomfortable and anxious.
He is nervous around new people and visitors who come to his foster home and it takes him a while to warm up to strangers. Because of this, Chance will need someone with plenty of patience to give him time to settle in, using some training techniques to help him adapt. He is easily startled by loud noises and surprises. He is still a little nervous on car rides but settles down with positive attention.
